Creating a Celtic Tree of Life Wreath (SOLD OUT)

  • Private Farm East Haddam, Ct United States (map)

In Celtic culture, trees were considered sacred beings that held great power and wisdom. The Celts believed trees were living entities with spirits and personalities. They saw trees as symbols of strength, endurance, and renewal – qualities that they admired and sought to emulate in their own lives. Trees were considered symbols of longevity, rebirth and renewal, strength and wisdom, and were believed to be our ancestors reincarnated.

The Tree of Life represented this connection between Earth and Heaven in Celtic culture. It symbolized the cycle of life, death, and rebirth – the eternal cycle of nature that sustained all living beings. The roots of the tree reached deep into the earth, grounding it in reality, while its branches stretched high into the sky, reaching for heaven.

Creating a Tree of Life wreath is a beautiful and meaningful way to celebrate the interconnectedness of all living things. The branches reach out, representing the search for learning and knowledge in life. The trunk symbolizes strength and unity from family; its flowers and fruit show renewed growth and eternal life. At the base, the deep roots represent reaching deep into the underworld, where the Sídhe (fairy folk) reside.

Join us for a special day of sacred creation as we create our own personal Tree of Life wreath together. We begin our time with an opening meditation, honoring nature and quieting our minds. We will then take a foraging walk, gathering invasive vines for our wreath base.

Once our bases are collected, Brenda will guide everyone in creating your vine wreath base and demonstrate how to use natural fibers and twine to create your unique Tree of Life centerpiece. We will have an assortment of greenery and gifts from nature to incorporate into your design.

As you work, reflect on the symbolism of the Tree of Life – representing growth, strength, and unity. Add in flowers or other embellishments to represent blossoming life and beauty. Once your wreath is complete, we will complete our time together in our share circle with hot tea.

Spring is a beautiful time to create your Tree of Life wreath, as a reminder of the importance of nurturing our connections with nature and each other. Creating a Tree of Life wreath is not just a craft project but a spiritual practice that can bring peace and harmony into your home.
