"Stories are medicine. They have such power; they do not require that we do, be, act anything—we need only listen."

— Clarissa Pinkola Estés, Women Who Run With Wolves

On our social media accounts, I share short morning stories — small glimpses into a place I think of as the Hidden World Between the Trees. They are magical, reflective pieces, rooted in nature and meant to be read slowly.

Many of you began to tell me something unexpected — that you were saving them, returning to them, wishing you could hold them in your hands instead of scrolling past them.

So I gathered them and created a monthly magazine of the stories.

It is not something to rush through, but something to keep nearby — to open with your morning tea, to revisit when you need a quiet moment, or a way back into yourself.

The daily stories are still continuing. Nothing is ending. This is simply the first time these writings have been brought together — a way to step out of the scroll and into something you can hold.

Stories like these are not meant to disappear. They stay with you. You remember them while you’re walking, you begin to notice things differently, you share them with someone you love. They ask nothing of you, but gently change how you move through the world.

I write these stories because we all need a little magic — not as escape, but as remembrance. A way back into connection with the land, with each other, and with the quieter parts of ourselves that still know how to listen.

Hold the stories. Return to them. Let them become part of your days.

Remember the magick of the forest,

Kathleen

This is the fourth collection in our ongoing series of mythic nature storytelling—stories drawn from the generous days of May, when the earth gives without restraint and the world arrives in full, sometimes faster than we can witness it.

Inside, you'll find tales of the watchers who live in the roots, the iris that remembered the rainbow, and the foxgloves that choose the forest's edge. You'll meet the witch who tends the bees and the witch who brings the summer, walk paths that rearrange themselves, and discover the pools that appear and disappear with no explanation owed. You'll learn why some birds mate for life, what the mist knows as it rises from ponds at dawn, and what the forest teaches in the long, golden hours of late May.

There are stories here of thresholds and their keepers, of queens awakening, of bells that ring without hands, of a month the moon came twice. There is the place no map marked, and the birds who carry summer on their backs.

.They are invitations—to see the natural world as animate, intelligent, and full of an old magic that has never left.

Volume Three continues the journey through the seasonal world with stories drawn from the awakening days of April. From the witch who warms the wind to the trees that remember names, from the frog who decided it was time to the birds testing new songs—these tales explore the threshold between winter's end and spring's true arrival, when the earth softens and the world begins to unfold.

Each story offers a mythic reimagining of April's natural phenomena: the forest speaking in scent, the ferns releasing what cannot be seen, the light that stops on certain shoulders. Through witches who shape weather, plants that know their purpose, and the subtle geometry of growth, these narratives reveal the intelligence woven into leaves, soil, and the space between trees.

Told in a voice both ancient and intimate, this collection weaves folklore and wonder into the fabric of the everyday—reminding us that nothing grows in a straight line, and there is a right distance for everything.

Blending modern myth with timeless voice, this collection invites readers who love lyrical fiction, nature writing, and the quiet magic of seasonal change.
