The Winter Solstice is the day on which the midday sun is at its lowest point in the sky and it arrives this year on Wednesday, December 21. The solstices mark key turning points in the year and have been celebrated by many cultures throughout history. The Winter Solstice marks the shortest day (and the longest night) of the year. This period of deep winter reflection will allow you to release negativity and welcome in new opportunities and joy.
Celebrate and honor the Winter Solstice through all of your senses and enjoy an opportunity to connect to nature with like-minded souls. This mindfulness practice is based on Shinrin-Yoku (Forest Bathing) which is the scientifically backed Japanese tradition of nature immersion used to benefit one’s physical and mental health. The gentle and slow meander will be less than a mile and completed with a special foraged hot tea around the fire.
* Dress warmly in layers and warm boots.
*Please check back here if the weather is iffy the day before the event for any updates.

Additional Information
Investment: $40. If paying $40 would prohibit you from attending this walk, please pay what you can. We believe a connection to the land fosters the mental, physical, and spiritual wellness of individuals, communities, and the planet. We want to provide a quality experience that facilitates this connection, but we also believe all members of our community should have access to this event. If you are able to pay more than the suggested ticket price, the difference will go towards covering the cost of those in our community who can’t.
Once purchased, you will receive more information on how to prepare for the event.
No pets or children under 16 for this experience.
Everyone is welcome. Come as you are.
No experience necessary; just an open heart and willingness to connect.
Walks involve creative invitations in the woods that allow you to explore nature with all five of your senses. We will practice mindfulness exercises that will help you connect with nature on a new level.
Walks are slow-paced and cover less than 1 mile.
Cell phones should be off (ideally left in the car) and in a hard-to-reach pocket to minimize both physical and mental intrusions while on the walk.
Please dress for the weather, including a jacket, layers, umbrella, and proper shoes.
Walks will continue even in drizzling rain, as they can enhance our sensory experience. An alternate date will be coordinated if there is severe inclement weather (e.g., high winds, snowstorms, thunderstorms).
Please arrive 15 minutes ahead of the start of the walk. Bathrooms will not be available during the walk.
Please contact us if you have any limitations that the guide should be aware of so that the walk can be modified if necessary.
