An Introduction to Earth Magick (SOLD OUT)

  • Private Residence East Haddam, CT United States (map)

Perhaps you are seeking healing...

Perhaps the plants are calling you to go deeper into yourself...

Perhaps your calling is to live closer to the earth with our plant, animal, and invisible allies...

Enter the world of Pharmakeia, the practice of plant magick.

Through our new monthly series, Earth Magick: The Path of the Forest Witch, we provide a safe space where women can begin their alchemical journey to connect on a deeper level with our natural world, take a deep dive into common plants and their magickal uses, explore spells and rituals, gain an understanding of the historical context of the craft, build confidence, and meet a community of like-minded women.

Your journey begins on Sunday, September 24th, for our first offering in the series, an Introduction to Earth Magick, under the guidance of our new teacher, friend, and green witch, Rachel Star Koladis @thereplantedwitch. We are so excited to welcome Rachel to our tribe and provide a platform for her to share her passion and knowledge of folklore, magick, and green/hedge witchcraft with women curious about green witch living. We are thrilled that Rachel's crooked path led her to us.

Join us—we'll have a cup of tea ready.

Details

This is not your average “How to be a green witch class.” We will begin this workshop with an introduction to the legacy and history of botanica that has been left to all witches by Hekate (Hecate), the goddess of magick and witchcraft. We will learn about and partake in a Khernips cleansing ritual to prepare ourselves for the green path. Khernips, also called lustral water, is a specific type of water used for cleansing and purification. Rachel will lead us through a plant meditation to find and communicate with our personal plant allies, followed by a discussion on sustainable harvesting. We will work together to each start our own personal materia medica (a Latin term, relating to the history of pharmacy) using provided reference books, personal guidance from Rachel, and group discussions. We will conclude our day with a gentle walk in nature and a fireside-sharing circle.

  • Sunday, September 24, 2023, 11:00 am - 1:00 pm at a private 60-acre residence in East Haddam (address will be emailed to attendees the week of the workshop)

  • $45 investment per person and includes a sketchbook and materials

  • Limited to 10 women

  • Please feel free to bring any crystals or beautiful gifts from the earth that can support our space in feeling safer, more welcoming, more tolerant, or more sacred.

About our Facilitator - Rachel Star Koladis

Witchcraft and magic have been dominant forces in Rachel's life from an early age—she spent her free time practicing spells with her best friends. At Trinity College, she worked on researching and preparing a working bibliography on witchcraft-related holdings at the Watkinson Library on campus. It became clear that her path was going to be a crooked and magical one.

After obtaining her certification as a vegan chef at The Natural Gourmet, studying herbalism with Rosemary Gladstar, and receiving her yoga teaching certification, she returned to her roots and began offering Witchcraft 101 workshops.

Rachel is most interested in folklore, magic throughout history, and green / hedge witchcraft. In her free time, you can find her foraging in the forest, researching plants and remedies, visiting historic sites, whipping up kitchen magic, and practicing her needlework. You can find her on Instagram @thereplantedwitch.
