Mabon Forest Bathing Walk SOLD OUT

  • Connecticut College Arboretum 830 Williams Street New London, Ct 06320 United States (map)

The practice of forest bathing encourages you to walk in the forest at a slower pace and take in the atmosphere around you. Multiple scientific studies have shown that it lowers stress and blood pressure levels while increasing immune system functioning, making you more resilient to diseases and illness.

These walks are slow-paced and generally cover less than a mile of trail. During this time, the guide, in partnership with the forest, will offer an evolving series of invitations crafted to help participants slow down and open their senses. Opening one’s senses encourage mindfulness, which readies the heart and mind to be fully present in the natural world. Come discover the medicine of being in the forest.

Advance registration is required to attend.

Additional Information:

  • Investment: $40. If paying $40 would prohibit you from attending this walk, please pay what you can. We believe a connection to the land fosters the mental, physical, and spiritual wellness of individuals, communities, and the planet. We want to provide a quality experience that facilitates this connection, but we also believe all members of our community should have access to this event. If you can pay more than the suggested ticket price, the difference will cover the cost of those in our community who can’t.

  • Once purchased, you will receive more information on how to prepare for the event.

  • No pets or children under 16 for this experience.

  • Everyone is welcome. Come as you are.

  • No experience is necessary; just an open heart and willingness to connect.

  • Walks involve creative invitations in the woods that allow you to explore nature with all five of your senses. We will practice mindfulness exercises that will help you connect with nature on a new level.

  • Walks are slow-paced and cover less than 1 mile.

  • Cell phones should be off (ideally left in the car) and in a hard-to-reach pocket to minimize both physical and mental intrusions while on the walk.

  • Please dress for the weather, including a jacket, layers, umbrella, and proper shoes.

  • Walks will continue even in drizzling rain, as they can enhance our sensory experience. An alternate date will be coordinated if there is severe inclement weather (e.g., high winds, snowstorms, thunderstorms).

  • Please arrive 15 minutes ahead of the start of the walk. Bathrooms will not be available during the walk.

  • Please contact us if you have any limitations that the guide should be aware of so that the walk can be modified if necessary.

Whatever you choose, do it with love, with reverence and most importantly with gratitude. There are no intentions set or asking of anything.
We simply want to be; to appreciate; and if anything, to give back.
