National Cancer Survivors Day Forest Bathing Walk

  • Canfield Meadow Woods Nature Preserve Book Hill Woods Road Essex, CT, 06426 United States (map)

We are honored to pay tribute to all those who have heroically confronted and continue to battle the realities of cancer with this special forest bathing walk for cancer survivors and their caregivers. We hope this gentle walk brings contentment, relaxation, and peace of mind, whilst enjoying time outside in nature. The beauty of forest bathing is that it asks us to slow down, absorb nature in a uniquely deep and personal way, and gently reconnect with nature and ourselves.

Please pay what you can to attend this event. We believe a connection to the land fosters the mental, physical, and spiritual wellness of individuals, communities, and the planet. We want to provide a meaningful walk that facilitates this connection, but we also believe all members of our community should have access to this event.

No pets or children under 16 for this experience.

Additional information:

  • Walks involve creative invitations in the woods that allow you to explore nature with all five of your senses. We will practice mindfulness exercises that will help you connect with nature on a new level.

  • Walks are slow-paced and cover less than 1 mile.

  • Cell phones should be off (ideally left in the car) and in a hard-to-reach pocket to minimize both physical and mental intrusions while on the walk.

  • Please dress for the weather, including a jacket, layers, umbrella, and proper shoes.

  • Walks will continue even in drizzling rain, as they can enhance our sensory experience. An alternate date will be coordinated if there is severe inclement weather (e.g., high winds, snowstorms, thunderstorms).

  • Please arrive 15 minutes ahead of the start of the walk. Bathrooms will not be available during the walk.

  • Please contact us if you have any limitations that the guide should be aware of so that the walk can be modified if necessary.

The smells of nature, the feeling of the freshness of the air, the sounds of the wind, the animals, and the sight of the glorious
colors all bring joy to our hearts and mind.
