A Liminal Journey with Mary Magdalene: Memory, Witness, and the Turning of the Wheel

  • Rogers Lake Clubhouse 75 Rogers Lake Trail Old Lyme, CT, 06371 United States (map)

"Since the dawn of time, women have carried the light of truth in their hearts, standing as witnesses and beacons even when the world sought to silence them."

As the year tilts toward winter, we gather in the liminal space between light and darkness, harvest and deep rest. November 1st—Samhain, All Saints’ Day—marks a sacred threshold, a time when the veil between worlds thins and the echoes of those who have gone before us can be felt with clarity and reverence. In these sacred two hours, we step together into remembrance, reflection, and renewal, honoring both the shadowed spaces of grief and the illumination that arises from witness.

At the heart of our circle is Mary Magdalene, whose courage, insight, and witness continue to inspire and guide us. Participants will learn about her historical and spiritual role, her resilience, and the ways her example opens a path for ritual, transformation, and personal empowerment for women.

This intimate, two-hour gathering is a total sensory immersion: the gentle glow of candlelight outlining our circle, the aroma of tea by the hearth, journaling exercises, and the guided use of the Magdalene oracle. Through ritual anointing, shared reflection, and attentive listening, we will create a sacred space where memory, grief, gratitude, and guidance converge, and where endings and beginnings are held together in compassionate witness.

Guiding this sacred experience is Jean Golicz, whose life and work are rooted in the embrace of liminality and transformation. Living at the mouth of the Connecticut River, where fresh and salt waters merge, Jean embodies the meeting of opposites, teaching us to find harmony in polarities. With a doctorate in Eco-Spirituality and certifications in traditional faith practices, she has studied sacred traditions across the world—from Kabbalah and numerology in Israel to Celtic consciousness in Scotland—and continues her work as a member of the Barred Owl Cohort at the Seminary of the Wild. Jean brings not only expertise but presence, intuition, and deep reverence for the sacred cycles of nature, creating a space where every participant feels held, guided, and honored.

Through Jean’s leadership and the circle’s rituals, participants step into a transformative space where shadow meets illumination, grief softens into gratitude, and the past informs our presence. Each turn of the oracle, each candle lit, and each act of anointing invites women into a liminal threshold where memory, witness, Magdalene wisdom, and sacred ritual converge.
