About our Instructor

Cynthia Vandermark Hoag began her Tai Chi journey in 1994 at Trinity College, seeking a way to continue her passion for artistic movement after major life changes. With a background in ballet, Tai Chi became the ideal practice for her, leading to a lifelong dedication under Master Malee Khow and other esteemed teachers. Cynthia achieved Certified National Judge status in 2012 and competed in the 1st World Tai Chi Championships in Chengdu, China, in 2014, using the Yang Style 24 Form and the 32 Movement Competition Sword form. This pivotal experience inspired her to co-found Foundations Tai Chi with her husband, George, which later evolved into Dragon Rising Wellness to encompass additional modalities like Reiki and Pranic Healing.

Certifications: Tai Chi Judge, Since 2012; Lifetime Member of USAWKF; Reiki Master, Since 2016; Pranic Healer Level I, Since 2018

The Unique Benefits of QiGong and Tai Chi for Women

QiGong and Tai Chi offer numerous benefits tailored to women, addressing physical, mental, and emotional well-being through their gentle practices. Here’s how these ancient techniques can enhance your life:

Enhancing Physical Health

Both QiGong and Tai Chi emphasize slow, deliberate movements and deep breathing, which contribute to improved flexibility, strength, and balance. For women, these practices can be particularly beneficial in maintaining joint health, enhancing core strength, and improving overall physical stability. These gentle exercises are accessible to women of all ages and fitness levels, including those managing chronic conditions or recovering from injury.

Stress Reduction and Emotional Balance

The meditative aspects of QiGong and Tai Chi help calm the mind and reduce stress. By focusing on slow, mindful movements and deep breathing, you can achieve a state of relaxation and emotional equilibrium. This is especially valuable for managing daily stressors and emotional fluctuations, fostering a sense of inner peace and resilience.

Supporting Hormonal Health

Practicing QiGong and Tai Chi can positively impact hormonal balance. The movements stimulate the body's energy flow, supporting the endocrine system and potentially alleviating symptoms associated with menstrual cycles, menopause, and hormonal imbalances. Regular practice can help mitigate mood swings, fatigue, and other hormone-related issues.

Improving Mental Clarity and Focus

The focus and concentration required in QiGong and Tai Chi practices help sharpen mental clarity and cognitive function. By integrating movement with breathwork, you can enhance your ability to stay present and centered, which can improve decision-making and problem-solving skills.

Cultivating a Sense of Empowerment and Connection

Engaging in these ancient practices fosters a deeper connection to yourself and your body. Many women find that QiGong and Tai Chi empower them to embrace their inner strength and intuition. The practices encourage self-awareness and self-care, supporting overall well-being and personal growth.

Building Community and Support

Participating in group QiGong and Tai Chi sessions can provide a sense of community and shared experience. Connecting with other women in a supportive environment enhances social well-being and offers a space for mutual encouragement and growth.
