Join us for a ritual of communing with the land, foraging with gratitude, and crafting your personal symbol of hope and everlasting life to hang on your front door, welcoming winter. It is, after all, on the winter solstice when our solar year ends and a new seasonal year begins.
A wreath is the perfect symbol for such an event.
Step away from the brightly lit, overstocked aisles of modern consumerism and start your slow approach to the Yule with this foraged wreath-making workshop led by Emily Phillips-Geeza, Folk Herbalist & Brenda Vynelak, Weaver. We invite you to embark on a creative journey that blends the art of wreath-making with the practice of mindfulness.
Wreath-making has long been cherished as a creative and meditative craft, and in this course, we'll guide you through the process of crafting beautiful wreaths while nurturing your mental well-being.
Wreaths are time-honored symbols of the cycles of the seasons and the Wheel of theYear. Hung on doors and over doorways during sacred holidays they were magical talismans which invited prosperity and abundance in – and kept negative forces out.
Emily will begin our afternoon with an introduction to wild harvesting, regenerative harvesting, and foraging responsibly. We will then put on our winter jackets and head outdoors onto 60 private acres for a quiet, reflective, mindful walk as we thoughtfully gather gifts from nature for our creations. Once our materials are gathered, we will head back inside, where Brenda will guide us on different methods to create our wild winter wreaths. You’ll decorate your wreath with a variety of fresh and dried greens, herbs, berries, seeds, cones, branches, and other natural elements—locally grown and foraged. You are encouraged to explore the texture, color, scent, and shape of the materials provided as you design your wreath. No two wreaths will come out the same, each having your own very personal touch and style. This three-hour relaxed, fun, reflective workshop emphasizes connecting and learning from our natural New England landscape. Please book early to avoid disappointment.
